Precise, Reliable Weld Inspection — Manual, Automated, or Robotic

Spot welds are critical. Missed defects mean rework, recalls, or worse. Vogt Ultrasonics gives your inspection team the tools to find problems fast — with phased array ultrasonic technology that works in the lab, on the production floor, or integrated with your robots.
Made in Germany, Since 1983
Accredited to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025
Works with FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa

Weld Quality Problems You Can't See Are the Most Dangerous

Manual weld inspection is slow, inconsistent, and highly dependent on the skill of the operator. When your inspection can't keep up with your production rate — or when results vary between shifts — quality escapes become a real risk.

Missed defects cause costly rework

Poor nugget formation, cracks, and lack of fusion in spot welds are nearly impossible to detect visually — but they're caught reliably with ultrasonic inspection.

Manual inspection can't scale

As production volumes increase, manual spot weld checking becomes a bottleneck. Skilled NDT operators are hard to find and expensive to retain.

Inconsistent results undermine quality confidence

When results depend entirely on individual operator technique, you can't guarantee consistent inspection quality across shifts or sites.

Compliance and traceability gaps

Without documented, traceable inspection data, demonstrating quality to customers and auditors is harder than it needs to be.

The Vogt Ultrasonics Solution

Vogt Ultrasonics has been developing ultrasonic inspection technology since 1983. Their PHAsis range uses phased array technology — 121 ultrasonic transducers in an 11x11 matrix — to measure nugget diameter, residual wall thickness, and weld quality with a test resolution below 0.35 mm, which is the highest on the market according to Vogt's published specifications.

Whether your team needs a portable handheld device for production and lab use, a robot-mounted automated system for 24/7 inspection cells, or a fully integrated inline solution, there's a Vogt system built for it.

PHAsisNEO — Manual Inspection

A portable phased array device for manual spot weld inspection in production and the laboratory. Test plans are created by an experienced inspector and synchronised to the device, meaning operators can follow a guided inspection workflow with minimal ultrasonic knowledge. Two modes: inspection according to test plan, and free testing for fast ad-hoc checks. Includes a 13" touchscreen, battery life over 7 hours, and IP64 housing.

PHAsisBLU — Automated Robot Inspection

Designed to be mounted on a robot arm for automated 24/7 inspection cells. The robot guides the probe from weld to weld following a defined inspection plan, automatically applying the correct setup and evaluation parameters for each spot weld. Results sync to your host systems or the PHAsis database. Compatible with major robot brands.

PHAsisROBy — Mobile Automated Inspection

A mobile, cobot-powered inspection system based on PHAsisBLU and the PHAsis KAI software platform. Path planning is done by physically moving the cobot arm from spot to spot — no robot programming expertise required. The system imports customer CAD files for visualisation, and AI is used across measurement planning and signal processing for improved accuracy and efficiency. Compatible with FANUC, ABB, KUKA, and Yaskawa.

PROline — Custom Mechanised & Automated Systems

Vogt's PROline range covers bespoke, application-specific ultrasonic inspection systems for more complex inspection challenges — tubes, bars, pipes, shafts, gear wheels, CFRP components, and more. Built to run inline or offline, in immersion or bubbler technique. VOGT designs and builds these systems to customer specification and supports ProfiNET/Profibus integration with existing production control systems.

Key Capabilities Across the Vogt Range

Highest available test resolution

A nugget diameter resolution below 0.35 mm across 729 real measurements per test — the highest on the market according to Vogt's published data.

Works with all major robot brands

PHAsisBLU and PHAsisROBy are compatible with FANUC, ABB, KUKA, and Yaskawa robots via the appropriate post-processor.

Two inspection modes

Guided inspection using pre-built test plans, and free testing for fast ad-hoc checks. Both available on NEO and BLU variants.

AI-enhanced signal processing

PHAsisROBy uses AI to process high-dimensional raw data — including features such as zinc cladding detection that are not achievable with traditional threshold-based methods.

Minimal couplant needed

The flexible rubber membrane delay line and water spray unit use minimal water. The surface dries independently, removing the need for manual cleaning between inspections.

Centralised device management

PHAsisMANAGER software handles multiple devices across a site — including user rights, inspection plans, results, and imports/exports.

Full traceability and documentation

All A-scans can be stored for post-evaluation and correlation to destructive testing. Inspection results are logged against individual components.

25+ years of manufacturing experience

Made in Germany, accredited to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025, and certified to ISO 9001 and EN 9100.

Reliable Inspection That Keeps Up With Your Production

Weld inspection is only useful if it's consistent, fast, and traceable. Vogt systems are built to deliver all three — whether you need a device your operators can pick up and use with minimal training, or a robot cell running inspection around the clock with no manual intervention.

Wire Glide can help you identify the right Vogt product for your application and support you through integration.

Phased array ultrasonic testing uses multiple small ultrasonic transducers arranged in a matrix to create a detailed image of weld quality without cutting or damaging the component. Unlike single-probe systems, phased array captures a much wider area in a single placement, making it faster and more accurate for spot weld inspection.
PHAsisNEO is designed for manual inspection — it's a handheld, portable device suited to production floor and laboratory use. PHAsisBLU is designed to be mounted on a robot arm for automated inspection within a fixed cell. Both use the same probe and measurement technology, and the two systems can be used alongside each other in a single workflow.
PHAsisROBy is a mobile automated inspection system that uses a collaborative robot (cobot) to carry the PHAsisBLU probe from weld to weld. Unlike a fixed robot cell, it can be moved around the production environment. Path programming is done by physically guiding the cobot arm rather than writing robot code, making it accessible to teams without robot programming expertise.
PHAsisBLU and PHAsisROBy are compatible with FANUC, ABB, KUKA, and Yaskawa robots. Compatibility with other brands may be available — contact Wire Glide to discuss your specific set-up.
Yes. PROline systems support ProfiNET and Profibus interfaces for communication with plant control systems. PHAsis systems can synchronise inspection results with host systems and the PHAsis database for traceability and reporting.
PHAsisNEO is designed so that experienced NDT inspectors create and manage test plans, which are then synchronised to the device for operators to follow. This means shop floor operators can carry out reliable inspections with minimal ultrasonic knowledge. Full free-testing mode is also available for qualified users.
Yes. VOGT Ultrasonics GmbH is accredited as an independent test laboratory to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 and certified to ISO 9001 and EN 9100.
